Despatch Develops In-line Solution to Enhance Efficiency of PERC Cells
MINNEPOLIS, MN: To solve the issue of Light Induced Degradation (LID), Despatch Industries- provider of tools and technology for the solar cell manufacturing industry, has developed an in-line solution, Despatch PowerLock.
LID can be defined as a loss of performances arising in the very first hours of exposition to the sun with crystalline module. It is responsible for slowing down the effectiveness of Passivated Emitter Rear Cell (PERC) cells by up to six percent after they are installed. However, the new solution developed by Despatch solves this LID issue to around one percent by assimilating into PERC cells’ metallization firing furnace line.
Unlike other solutions by furnace manufactures, the solution by Despatch doesn’t need any stand-alone equipment or extra material handling steps; also it doesn’t need much space. It utilizes LED lamps that have a 20SUN maximum intensity and it reaches the desired result in just 3.6 meters. The LED lamps enable the waste time to be reduced and allow an in-line process, which balances furnace throughput speeds.
In addition, the other prominent features of the LED lamps are, they are energy efficient, produce twice the lumens per watt compared to the arc lamps used in other solutions, they are automatic, means when there is no use they automatically get switch off and have life expectancy of 50, 000 hours which is ten times longer than arc lamps.
